Photo Workshop - Final Project
This past fall I completed my photography thesis titled Nine-to-Five. As a lover of production design and all things retro, I went into this project knowing that I wanted to somehow incorporate the old technology and businesswear I had lying around at home into this body of work. I found myself inspired by the tackiness of men’s editorial photoshoots seen in vintage Esquire, Fortune, and Forbes issues and wanted to put my own twist on them. Dressing some of my girl friends and myself up as businessmen getting “tortured” at the hands (and heels) of their mysterious female coworkers felt like a playful way to satirize gender roles and power dynamics in the workplace.
